Top 10 city management, trader, builder and god games

This is my favorite category of game I have played so many of them that I am defiantly going to struggle creating this list. I am only going to put in games I have actually played so if you think there is any better let me know.

Honestly I want to put some older games what I spent a large amount of time on but I feel would not hold up in today’s standards but these games were some of the ground work for games of today for example Utopia, Populous, Powermonger, Transport tycoon and Simant these games were what got me hooked and all would be in the top spots if they had there equivalent of today.

I am not going to put these in any particular order but my own as it would be to hard to do this depends on the person age and era you have grown up in and would most likely be different its more a list of what you should play if your into these type of games.

Anno series

The Anno games I have lost so much time playing with over 8 games and as I type I new one coming this year Anno 2205 looking forward to this immensely.

Anno is a German video game series developed by various developers and currently published by Ubisoft.

It is a game series with real time strategy, business simulation and city building elements. It involves colony building and resource management on a series of small islands. It includes aspects of exploration, combat, diplomacy and trade.

Simcity series

Old game with lots of different versions which has been brought back to life in 2013 personally I preferred some of the older versions to the newer but still a great game.

SimCity is an open-ended city-building computer and console video game series originally designed by developer Will Wright. It is published by Maxis (now a division of Electronic Arts). The game was first published in 1989 as SimCity, and it has spawned several different editions sold worldwide. The ongoing success of SimCity has also sparked the release of many other spin-off  “Sim” titles, including 2000’s The Sims, the best-selling computer game up until approximately 2012.[citation needed]

In SimCity, the player is given the task of founding and developing a city, while maintaining the happiness of the citizens and keeping a stable budget. In SimCity 2000, SimCity 3000 and SimCity 4, the player is allowed to alter the terrain of the city before building on it.

The player must define development zones, each having limits on the kind of development that can occur there. Development of the zones is not performed directly by the player, but happens when certain conditions are met, such as power supply, adequate transport links or acceptable tax level. The residential zones, in green, provide housing for Sims; the commercial zones, in blue, provide shops and offices; and the industrial zones, in yellow, provide factories, laboratories and farms. There are three different densities in the game: low density for small buildings, medium density for low to mid-sized buildings, and high density for anything up to large tower blocks.

Developed in Orinda, California, SimCity’s game mechanics are heavily based on 20th-century California development. For example, players start from an undeveloped greenfield, cars are the default form of transportation, earthquakes happen, zoning separates residential, commercial, and industrial land uses, and one can enact policies such as declaring one’s city a nuclear free zone.

The Settler series

Another massive following and many version The original settlers I literally lost my life to I was still in school and couldn’t wait to get home to play this addictive game on my Amiga 1200.

The Settlers is a video game series. The first game in the series is The Settlers (1993). There are eight games in the series, including remakes. All the games were developed by the German studio Blue Byte Software, and were published by either Blue Byte or Ubisoft, the company that later acquired Blue Byte. The tablet version of the game is developed by Gameloft.

Black and white 2

God games this genre is lacking as far as I am concerned I would love to see more of these type of games this was such a fresh game for me after playing populous and powermonger you could imagine how excited I was to get into this  its a great game as far as I am concerned and defiantly worth a visit.

Black & White is a 2001 video game developed by Lionhead Studios and published by Electronic Arts and Feral Interactive for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. A god game, it includes elements of artificial life, strategy, and fighting games. The player acts as a god and takes control over villages across several islands. Black & White features a unique gameplay element, a creature that the player can raise and teach. The game was highly anticipated and overall well received.

Banished

I have no hair with this game at times it came from no where for me its not the easiest game but I found it good enough to be in the list

Banished is a city-building strategy game for PC developed by Shining Rock Software, where you control a group of exiled travelers who decide to restart their lives in a new land. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland.

The objective of the game is to keep the population alive and grow it into a successful culture. Options for feeding the people include hunting and gathering, agriculture, trade, and fishing. However, sustainable practices must be considered to survive in the long term.
