Netflix and Hulu through a Chromecast
I discovered this and tested out a few phrases running Netflix and Hulu today. If you are watching video on a Chromecast connected to your Home, even if the video wasn’t played through a Home command (which currently would only be YouTube), you can still use voice commands through Home to control it. Here are the ones that I discovered. Every command requires you say “Chromecast” or “the Chromecast” with it (and it looks like you can also say “the TV” in place) or it won’t work near as I can tell. The only thing you can’t do is start a video from an ineligible service just yet.
- Pause the Chromecast
- Resume the Chromecast (“play” doesn’t seem to work)
- Stop the Chromecast
- Skip the Chromecast to MM:SS
- Rewind / fast-forward the Chromecast X seconds/minutes
- Chromecast volume to X%, volume up/down
- Mute the Chromecast
