Media PC HTPC Build 2

What I wanted from it
The goal for this computer was to create a quiet low power media centre, backup and teamspeak server. Running windows 64 bit and xbmc with nexus one to control it, works well for me and has turned out to be a great little HTPC.

What I purchased
Chenbro ES34069 Mini-ITX Home Server/NAS Chassis 120W

Why I purchased this case was the size and amount of space inside Drive Bays:
4x Removable 3.5in SATA HDD bays (SAS/SATAII compatible, can be hot swappable)
1x 2.5in SATA/IDE HDD bay. If using IDE HDD, a 2.5in to 3.5in IDE cable will be required.
1x Slimline Optical Drive bay. Slimline IDE Adapter included, Mini SATA cable required for SATA drives.
Front Panel: Power, Mute, Reset switches; 5x LEDs (PWR, HDD, LAN1, LAN2, FAULT); 2x USB 2.0; Space for IR Receiver
Measurements: 260 (H) x 140 (W) x 260 (D) (10.2 x 5.5 x 10.2in)
Volume: 9.46 litres.

OCZ Solid 3 60GB 2.5″ SATA-III Solid State Hard Drive

Quiet fast low power and enough space for the main system and a few programs

Low Power Consumption: 2.7W Active, 1.5W Idle

Asus E35M1-I DELUXE AMD Hudson M1 Integrated AMD Zacate 18W Mini ITX Motherboard

No fan motherboard so its quiet, AMD Radeon™ HD 6310 Graphics ive had no problems playing 1080p video has Bluetooth if you need it and its wireless, USB 3.0 & SATA 6Gb/s. Personally I think its a great board and good choice.

Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL9 1.5V unbuffered CMX8GX3M2A1333C9

x4 2TB Western Digital WD20EARX Caviar Green Quiet SATA 6Gb/s IntelliPower HDD

Lower noise and power was my choice for these

 Average power  Watt
 Read/Write 5.3
 Idle  3.3
 Standby  0.7
 Sleep  0.7

Problems I ran into

The only problems I ran into for this build was the memory it would run on one stick, but once I put in the second stick of ram it wouldn’t boot I got round this problem by getting an unreleased bios update from asus employee who then mailed it to me.

I still have this bios update if you have the same problem. So make sure you change the ram if you build this.

Always check the manufactures website first in case this was released already I haven’t checked as I don’t like to fix what isn’t broken. What would I change one thing would be the case it great but not really needed money could’ve been saved here, also the memory for a more compatible choice .

Power Usage

 Watt
 Boot  55
 Idle  35
 Sleep  3.7

*ps if you need the ram fix just leave your email in the comments section bios version  E35M1-I-DELUXE-ASUS-0090.rom
